Local DeLiciousness

With our desire to share some of the Panamanian culinary delicacies
We have been Graced to experience, I offer you the following:

Buen Queso aka, Good Cheese🧀,
Offers local dairy deLiciousness,
Access to healthy dairy being one of the many reasons
We moved to Panamá.
Yes, we love our dairy🐮!
Ever since Maui Bees discontinued offering raw milk,
We have been hunkering for it.

1 Gallon Raw Cow Milk

From this little local dairy store front,
We enJoy weekly raw cow’s milk at a mere
$4.25 per gallon🥛only hours old,
Greek yogurt (thick ’n creamy) strained overnight,
5-day aged cheese (great for melting),
1-month aged parmesan-like grated cheese.

The owner (Johan) is deLiciously deLightful.
He is the one who bought our Jimny’s original tires
(See the prior post entitled, Gestation).
He describes Arturo (our potential café manager)
As a “good man” … and then changed it to a “God Man.”
I think we’re on the right path here in Panamá 🙂

Buen Queso Store Front

Just around the corner from our li’l rental home
Is El Tío Leyn (Uncle Leyn’s) restaurant,
Serving deLiciousness in the exterior cocina of their family’s casa.
Once driving by on our way home,
We spotted their being open
Stopping in to learn their hours and came home with a gift of their
Homemade carrot cake🥕
Which was absolutely scrumptious – moist and not too sweet –
Just the way we like it!

Local Artisan’s Wares at the Tuesday Boquete Farmers Market

Each Tuesday, we head to the Boquete Farmers Mercado,
Bringing back memories of my 5 years
At the Upcountry Farmers Market on Maui.
We come home with…
A German expat’s dark rye sourdough boule,
An Italian expat’s perfectly sour kefir,
Goat cheese from an Italian expat goat farmer,
American expat husband ’n wife organic garden team offering
Broccoli (nearly as good as ours grown on Maui ;),
Green cabbage, succulent ginger,
Humungous-leafed spinach, zucchini,
Sweet bulb onions🧅 (think Maui sweet onions),
A Frenchman expat offering the creamiest of blue cheese,
Panamanian ranch family offering a wide variety of beef and pork cuts,
And the offerings go on and on with local coffee, kombucha,
Lilikoi, mango, orchids, and more.
