A Journal for Friends

  • Birthing At Any Age

    Aloha ‘Ohana & Holá Familia,

    The Writers Circle which continues to gather in my absence and which has gathered since July 2020 knows that my writing style is anything but “normal”. For those who have not had the “pleasure” of reading/listening to my writing, I ask for your openness and forgiveness for the style that is rather cryptic. And with this introduction:

    The Tierra housing coffee and views.

    Oh my,
    Such the beauty of ‘ohana gathered on the eve of our departure from our favorite isle,
    One on which we had lived for nearly twenty years –
    Not just lived, but THRIVED:
    An organic farm producing so much more
    Than we knew what to do with,
    So much abundance as she gave and gave of Herself.
    For those who received Goodness
    From our multiple freezers upon our departure,
    You are in receipt of some of that Amazing Abundance.
    The ‘āina gave in oh, so many, many ways –
    She supported our travels for a number of years,
    Calling us home to her in an ever more deepening aligned manner.
    She was actually never “ours”.
    Rather, a land that we were gifted to steward.
    She taught us much regarding
    Planting, growing, tending, nurturing, harvesting,
    The cycle of life that a farmer knows first hand,
    Be it her plants or our golden gift laying hens.

    Thanking those who joined us on the eve of Summer Solstice
    Celebrating Life,
    The ‘ohana and spiritual family, We Are,
    The Beauty of gathering one last time around the fire🔥 circle.

    It has been a tumultuous few months
    Since Olinda ‘āina closed escrow on 5/5/25,
    Prompting us to prepare in earnest for our departure to Panamá.
    There was much do-ing supporting The Great Letting Go –
    Three Estate Farm Sales,
    Offering at cents on the dollar the Abundance we had collected
    The nearly twenty years of Andrew’s and my Life together in Olinda,
    Two packed-to-the-brim 4x4x4 pallets shipped to Panamá,
    Six 50-lb bags checked on our flight.

    We have many to thank for supporting us
    With this humungous downsizing:
    A beLoved sister,
    For her continual service and support with
    Keeping me stable and on-track;
    A newly embraced sister and one Dynamo, with a capital “D”,
    For being our greatest supporter of purchasing
    That which we had collected over the years of preparation
    For the great change upon this planet,
    Assisting in expediting her family’s next steps of building a food forest
    And preparing for a future of undisturbed abundance
    AND
    For her stewarding our two special kitties,
    Princess Xena and Jester Luna;
    For the clean-up crew following our departure
    Summer Solstice from the ‘āina,
    Whose job was anything, but easy.
    There are many others who have supported us
    In oh, so very many ways.
    THANK YOU.
    Mahalo.
    Gracias.
    From the depths of our hearts, do we offer our Gratitude
    For each and every one of you🙏

    We have landed in Boquete, Panamá
    With the utmost of Ease ’n Grace,
    All that we have asked for, and more:
    Spending the night in Room #110
    (Love the reminders those “1s” are for us)
    In Panamá City during our layover;
    Our new car and ALL six 50-lb bags awaiting us
    (Undisturbed by customs) at the David Airport upon our arrival;
    A casa located in a quiet neighborhood,
    A mere 7-minute drive from the land we are to steward;
    A bilingual neighbor
    Wholly in service to our easeful learning for how things are done here;
    My yoga swing installed within moments of asking
    For the hooks to be embedded in an exterior archway
    With a handyman “just” showing up the following day;
    The most deeply colored golden gifts (eggies)
    Being delivered to our front doorstep
    At $3 per dozen (versus the $12 we sold ‘em for on Maui).

    July 4, 2025, we walk the land for the second time,
    The first being the evening of October 29, 2024
    When what I saw in Andrew,
    Amidst the twilight rainfall,
    Was his unmistakable, “YES‼️” to stewarding this tierra.
    July 4th was our confirmation of the Beauty and Wildness of this land,
    The stream that runs through Her,
    The mature trees,
    The abundance of café growing,
    As well as orange, lime, and banana trees.
    And, we have only scratched the surface thus far in our exploration.
    Andrew’s comment from our first day back on the tierra:
    “Twenty wild hectares feels like the perfect playground size🥎”

    The next day, we head to the top of Her,
    Discovering Her with open arms and open heart.
    The possibilities feel endless.
    The Magik feels boundless.
    We ask to listen with the ears of our heart,
    To respond with an openness and an
    Embracing welcoming of the unknown,
    For we know well that Source shall deliver so much more
    Than our li’l minds can possibly imagine🙏

    Thank you for listening to the tale as it has unfolded thus far.

    Although we find ourselves ultra tired today,
    With a rather low level of energy,
    We Trust that we will “come back” and ground into Life here
    With a vibrancy and youthfulness that shall be imbued.

    From our Hearts to Yours,
    Thanking each and every one of you
    For holding the vision along our side for

    FEELing and Expressing
