Gestation

We are given stewardship of the land August 18, 2025,
A 50ac café finca (farm).

The conception of stewardship
For the land in Palmira, an area of Boquete, Panamá,
Began 11/11/24 when a contract for purchase was agreed upon,
After spending 15 minutes upon her soils
At twilight amidst misty rainfall
A few short weeks prior.

Nearly nine months later,
We stand at the juncture for closure.
We stand ready, willing and able to embrace this tierra,
Co-create with her,
With the beginning of homes
And an upgrade in the products produced
From her coffee abundance.

Coffee is an up ’n coming commodity here in Boquete,
A town that is becoming world renowned for its calibre of café
Grown in the hills surrounding this quaint town
Of just over 20,000 inhabitants.
We have a vision for the café grown on the land we are to steward:
A bilingual caretaker,
One who oversees the coffee from fruit to roasted bean,
In addition to utilizing the cherry “byproduct” (the fruit),
Making a rich antioxidant, tasty, coffee cherry tea.

Nine months ago while on our first visit to Boquete,
We attend the opening of Mastranto Tea Lounge,
Meeting the owner, Arturo, and his son, Arturo Jr.
We instantly feel our connection with these two men
As they both speak fluent English
And sport a willingness to tap into the Heart.
We recognize their Love of da bean and attention to detail
With the making of a supreme cappuccino
From locally sourced beans,
In addition to serving up the best mushroom soup ever
Engaging deLicious, locally sourced mushrooms🍄
Mastranto Tea Lounge becomes our choice of hangouts
For our café fix during our brief 16-day October 2024 visit.

Fast forward nine months:
Andrew & I purchase a Subaru, site unseen,
Trusting the referral.
We are Grateful to have a car (and casa) awaiting us upon our arrival
After moving from our beloved Maui farm.
Although we find the Subaru to be “fine,”
She is not really “us.”
(We tend to like box-y cars such as what was our 2005 Scion xB
That a Dear friend purchased upon our departure from isle.)
After learning the condition of the multiple roads
That access the interior
Of the land we are to steward,
We realize we need a beefier vehicle,
Having 4WD and greater ground clearance.
We search for a used vehicle fitting our desires
And come to learn that the vehicle we incline toward
Is a 4-door Suzuki Jimny (I do not believe they exist in the USA).
Given that the 4-door model has only recently been manufactured,
And following the missed opportunity
To purchase a used 2024 model found in Panamá City,
We opt for a brand new drive-her-off-the-dealership-floor version.

Me ‘n Lucy

Arturo, God Bless Him,
Navigates the dealership’s car salesman with us.
Not only does Arturo attend us while at the dealership
At the onset of the negotiation process,
He organizes the luggage rack,
Purchased and sent from Panamá City,
Plus a set of larger tires for better off-roading,
As well as joining us for the retrieval a few days later,
Including multiple stops so as to
Have the luggage rack built and installed
And the new tires fitted, in addition to the sale of the original tires,
AND, the sale of the Subaru
(Our original sight unseen car purchase).
Whew!
We are talkin’ Panamanian service:
Service from the heart,
Without expectation,
Offering us the greatest of Ease & Grace🙏

Arturo.
Bilingual, excellent business sense,
Wide range of connections in the local community,
Integrous, café Lover & aficionado.
Is he our soon-to-be café finca manager?
Has Source placed this beautiful man and his family before us
For our aligned co-creation and expression?
Time will tell how this relationship shall unfold.
We continue taking the next faith-filled step, one step at a time,
Beginning with our walking the tierra with him next week.

An Abundance of Café on the Tierra

We have a vision:
Andrew-designed boutique estates
Scattered amidst a thriving café plantation,
Producing deLicious Panamanian café and café cherry tea☕️,
Beholding the next “Napa” of Panamá,
Substituting vineyards for coffee plantation.
And now, we
Let Go 🔶 Let God
As we deepen into the perpetual journey of practicing Trust and Faith🙏
